Radio personality Aunt Daisy (Maud Basham) has been mentioned in almost every single oral history interview I have completed so far! She was a member of the congregation for many decades, and clearly made a huge impression.

Many remembered that she was particularly insistent that no-one sit in ‘her’ pew, and woe betide any visitor to the church who sat there – they would quietly, but insistently, be asked to move.

Many people also remember her talking on her radio show on Monday morning about the sermon that Dean Davies had given the day before.

For more information see her biography on the Te Ara Encyclopaedia.
