I’m currently writing a story about the restoration of Old St Paul’s, but in the meantime, I thought I’d share this great image, taken in 1969 when the church was being fumigated for borer (a beetle imported to New Zealand from Europe, which eats wooden houses and furniture).

What an amazing amount of work it must have been to sew up all that the fabric for the spire!
